His contributions to the aviation sector have been exemplary, notable being to set-up the Aircraft Accidents Investigation Bureau that catalysed revival of the ailing airline industry. In his earlier role in the state, Kumar played an important role in timely completion of several infrastructure projects in Telangana and earlier in the combined Andhra Pradesh. He initiated and completed many infrastructure projects like Outer Ring Road, Krishna Phase-2 Drinking Water Pipeline and Godavari Drinking Water Pipeline Project that fed many dry areas. G. Asok Kumar is currently working as Additional Secretary and Mission Director at National Water Mission, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.
